{Bliss Board} Winter Wonderland

I have a beautiful bride that has chosen New Year's Eve as her date with a Winter Wonderland as her vision. How spectacular, right? My mind went spinning with ideas and this was the bliss board I created:

Her colors are blue and silver, which is perfect for that Winter Wonderland theme, with sparklers and party hats reinforcing the New Year vibe. I love the idea of a "wish tree" for the guests to write down wishes, advice or even resolutions for the couple. Since the reception will be held at a country club, candles around the pool and the golf cart "get away" could be nice touches.

What screams Winter Wonderland Wedding to you?

Well, if you are in the New Orleans area, you are in luck! Maria McBride, Style Director of Brides Magazine will be at the Eco-Celebrations luncheon tomorrow, Saturday, July 24, from 12:30-2:30pm at Le Meritage, 1001 Toulouse Street in the French Quarter. For more info, visit GO NOLA.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to go and I'm just sick about it! I love her book Party Basics for New Nesters! Which, if you haven't purchased yet do so ASAP! Love the unique and creative party ideas!

Bienvenue! Welcome! Bienvenido!

When your out-of-town guests arrive to their hotel for the big wedding weekend, a nice bag of goodies can really make an impression. Some will travel long journeys so to have a tangible "thank you" greeting them when they arrive is a great gesture.

For a generic welcome bag, consider the following: water bottles, candy, snacks, local treats, directions to the ceremony and reception, brochures of local museums or activities, transportation information, local food and restaurant guides and, don't forget, a nice note from the couple! This is where chains like Sam's and Costco can come in handy!

The welcome bag can even go beyond being a nice gesture...it can set the tone of the wedding weekend with your out-of-town guests. Introduce them to your eco-friendly theme by adding organic or local treats in a reusable shopping bag. Show them you are excited about your color scheme by choosing items only in varying shades of those colors. Let your creative juices flow!

{Real Wedding} Rachel + Chris

Rachel and Chris (AKA me and my new husband!) recently tied the knot at the Rural Life Museum. The inspiration for the wedding came from peacock feathers and those bright blues, purples and greens remained the theme for the entire soiree. Being a detail fanatic, we had TONS of little extras that made our day "ours". Enjoy!

{Real Party} The Busy Girl Book and Wine Club

I had a few girls over the other night for our "Busy Girl Book and Wine Club" and I wanted to share a few of the details with you! The pictures aren't the best...but you will get the general idea!

I kept the menu hassle-free by serving finger sandwiches, garden pasta, mini spinach and artichoke stuffed bread bowls and mini cupcakes!

Being a book club party, I just had to incorporate books in the decor! So, I used several books we had laying around as a cupcake stand. The toppers had books and fleur de lis designs on them.

Of course, there was wine...

and cheese!

I spruced up the cheese a bit with fleur de lis toppers. It gave it a little something extra!

It was a fun night with great girlfriends!

If you have pictures of your last fabulous party, share them with me at blissbyrachel@gmail.com and I'll feature you!

{Inspiration} Some Tasty Color!

Although classic and stunning, your wedding cake doesn't have to be limited to the traditional white fondant or buttercream. Get creative and add some color! The Groom's Cake doesn't have to be the only fun cake at the reception!

I love how the bride used a mirror underneath...what depth!
